Hint
How can I descide which mainjet I need?
To make up if you need an other mainjet, just "reed" your spark plug. If the color is grey or light brown; your main jet is to small. If your spark plug color is dark brown or black it is to great. The ideal color is: "coffee with milk brown". ( always use a new or clean spark plug before testing this!
Acceleration problems
If your scooter does't acceleratie as good as before and you did not change anything yourself, the couse is often to find in the variator area. Check your variator roll's for flat spots, check the surface of the pulley's on grooves and the crankcase on black dust. Al these things mean you have to replace the roll's, pulley or belt.
Which exhaust is the best?
We get this question very often. But every scooter and every set up is different. Just in general we can say that the Giannelli Reverse is one of the best exhausts for standard 50cc engines and the Giannelli Shot is the best for cast iron and midrange aloy 70cc's. For higher rev's you'll need for instance the Yasuni R or C16 and also the Bidalot S3R series. For high end race cylinders there are special pipes available. Just e-mail us for a personal advice with your set up, wishes and budget and we will help you to find the power.
Run in of your new cylinder.
After the first start of the engine just let the engine turn warm for about 3 to 4 minutes. Then let it cool down for half an hour. Next period you can drive for a short while. No high rev's and no hill climb etc. Again let it cool down for an half hour. Remain this and slowly build the period and rev's up. After about 100 km your cylinder can be used maximum. Off course you have to manage that the carburettor and the drive train are adjusted properly to the new parts.
Idle jet
Adjusting the idle jet: Let your scooter run stationairy. Then turn the idle jet screw full in. Then 1.5 turn open. Now adjust the stationary screw so, that your scooter runs nice. Then try to adjust and turn the idle jet screw in or out. Listen to the engine if the revs go up or down. Find the highest rev's and stop turning. That is the correct postition of the idle jet screw. At last; adjust the stationairy screw so the engine runs the normal amount of rev's.
Limiters
For the Dutch internal market the most brands are limited on the power of the engine. This is not an issue for most foreign countries so we do not answer this question here. Off course you can find specific answers on Google and comunities in your country.
All about powerfilters
Many customers think that their scooters run faster with a so called "power" filter. That is not the thruth. It makes more noise. Not speed. The worst thing is that power filters that are not made of foam and are not oiled with special filter oil are dangerous because the do not filter dust, sand and water properly. So they can easyparts ruin your engine. Only if you choose better quality foam filters and oil them you make the good choice.
Bearing and crankshaft assembly
When you have your crankcase empty and clean and you are ready to assembly your bearings and crankshaft you have to do the following first; heaten the crankcase first up to 100 degrees. Also put the bearings and crankshaft in the freezer ( don't tell your mother!) Now the differance is maximum. You can easy lay the bearings in the case now. Just wait a few minutes and they are tight fit. Now take the shaft out of teh freezer and also put it in one case half. Then put the other case half on it and assembly the rest of your engine.
Short hint 1
If you are preparing a big engine turn over; clean your bike first, then clean the parts with petrol after dis- assembling and lay them on a white paper or bedsheet in order of (dis) assembly.
Brake maintenance hint
Always use special brakepaste for the backside of brake pads, springs and pins. Then your brakes wont's scream anymore and the next time they will be more easy to dis assemble.
Assembly of the exhaust.
Assembly looks more easy then it is. Always make sure you turn in the bolts and nuts only by hand. ( use a little grease) Then before you tighten the nuts and bolts, make sure there is no tension! Tension means that the exhaust will crack later!
Keep your exhaust shiny and new
To keep you new exhaust brandnew and give rust no chance you can put a little motoroil on an old towel and rub the exhaust in with this oiled towel. It smokes a short while but if you do this a few times on the new exhaust you will see it remains like new!
Short hint 2
For working on your clutch and vario you can use special tools. You can find this tools in the special section in our shop.
Sticker paste
To paste a large sticker on your fairingparts use a little water with soap. Make the part wet and then paste the sticker. After you have placed the sticker the place you like you can push the water away with a towel. Then it will tighten on the fairing.
Reward
Do you have a golden hint for us that MUST be placed on our website just e-mail it to us. If it is such a good hint that we place it we will send you a nice reward as a thank you geste.
Brake de-air.
To get all air out of your system you can use an old injection pump. Fill the pump with brakefluid. Then make sure all old all is out of you system. Turn the nipple on the brake caliper open and connect the pump to the caliper with a piece of petrolhose. Now pump the brakefluid into the caliper and the hose so that you fill the complete system. Now all air is automatically pressed out of the hose and caliper and your brake is ready to use.
